At Semrau Wealth Strategies, trust and education are very important
Selecting a financial advisor is not an easy decision. It’s a matter of commitment and trust. At Semrau Wealth Strategies, Andrew is committed to earning his clients’ trust every day. By working together, Andrew is confident that he can help you achieve your financial goals and secure your financial future.
Hybrid Business Model
Most clients are different, and because of that, Andrew wants to be able to adapt, and best serve the clients that he works with. The more traditional model of a commission based advisor is a very good fit for some people, but there is also a need and a fit for fee based advisors.
The commission based approach is very common as the companies that the advisor places business with will offer the advisor a commission for that work, or there will be trading commissions as many people are familiar with from traditional brokerage accounts.
A fee based approach can often work with two different parts. The first part could involve planning fees. With that, the client will discuss goals, priorities, desires, and needs with the advisor. The advisor will then put together an easy to read Financial Plan, which the client will pay a fee for. With that plan, the client would be able to implement some of it individually, or take it to another advisor to implement. Of course there is the option of allow Andrew to implement the plan also, but the choice is truly yours. The second part of the fee based approach would be charging a fee based on the assets under management. With this type of account, the client would pay a fee based on the total assets, but then would not have to pay any trading fees when it made sense to reallocate the investments. Many clients really like this approach because it is more transparent, as the client can better see what they are paying in fees, and it reduces bias as the advisor does not even look at commissions, since they are not set up that way. Another benefit is that these types of accounts do not have any surrender charges, and the client is not locked into an investment in their portfolio. It does provide a great deal of liquidity to the client.
The First Appointment
Many people really do not know where to start or what to expect when working with an advisor for the first time. Some people are afraid to talk to one because they feel that it will cost too much, and they cannot afford it, or that they do not have enough money to have it be worth the advisor's time. Andrew discusses that, along with other topics in the first appointment.
At Semrau Wealth Strategies, Andrew knows that not everyone is a good fit to work together. For that reason, there is no charge for the first appointment. To start with, we need to get to know each other a little bit by talking about client expectations, and what you, the client, are hoping to get out of a relationship with a financial advisor. As Andrew is learning about his clients, his clients will also be learning about him. Andrew's opinion is that expectations work both ways, and it is important for him to know what you expect, and for you to know what he expects before we start a working relationship. If both parties decide to work with each other, then you will discuss fees and services, and move on to the next step. Andrew's policy is to make sure that you know the direction of the relationship, and the costs before any billing begins.
